In the sanctuary of the Madonna del Bailino there is a late fifteenth-century statue of the Virgin nursing the Child, and to that Madonna pregnant women have turned for centuries as their protectress. Why, nobody ever wrote down: the simplest guess is that the gesture of the statue was enough to settle the devotion. The sanctuary in its present form dates from 1774, probably raised around an older building, since inside there are two frescoes datable to about 1500; the Serassi organ is of 1827.
Three thousand eight hundred and two inhabitants in the province of Bergamo, on the plain crossed by the Morla stream and by the Morlana and Colleonesca irrigation ditches. The village had taken the Ghibelline side, and for that reason between 1405 and 1406 it was repeatedly attacked by the Guelphs, who put it to fire and sword. On the municipal arms, which already appear in the Camozzi armorial of 1888, a lion grasps the letter L, the initial of the commune's name, while the chief with the black eagle recalls precisely that choice of side.
