Province: Brescia · Region: Lombardy · Population: 3,793 · Postal code: 25030

In 1610 the Venetian governor Giovanni da Lezze counted 500 inhabitants at Lograto. A century earlier, in that same village, the nobleman Vincenzo Calini — born in 1503 — kept a small court with 34 people in his service and a stable with twenty horses. Do the arithmetic and one family's servants amounted to nearly a fifteenth of the whole population, and the master's horses were probably more numerous than everyone else's put together.

Three thousand seven hundred and ninety-three inhabitants in the province of Brescia, on the western plain. A large stone at the Cascina Pieve marks the site of the village's first church, dedicated to San Pietro and mentioned in a decree of the emperor Henry III of 1053. The Calini villa, today Villa Morando and the town hall, has before it a park open to the public with an avenue of about 300 metres, six sandstone statues on each side and a round fountain in the middle. The Morando castle, by contrast, was medievalised between 1905 and 1908, with brick battlements and turrets added that it had never had.
