Centro Valle Intelvi

This municipality is seven years old. It was born on the first of January 2018 from the merger of Casasco d'Intelvi, Castiglione d'Intelvi and San Fedele Intelvi, and the decision was taken by the inhabitants: in the referendum of the twenty-second of October 2017, held in all three villages, the yes votes were 1195 and the no votes 455. It does not often happen that three municipalities choose to disappear in order to become one.

The coat of arms is brand new too: entrusted in 2020 to the heraldist Carletto Genovese and granted in 2021, it puts together the pieces of the three earlier emblems. The castle stands for the fortifications of San Fedele and of Castiglione, whose very name alludes to the castrum of Montronio; the wolf, rampant and not passant, comes from the legend of Casasco; the lion is the one from Castiglione and recalls the families that held the valley, the Rusca, the Marliani and the Riva Andreotti. The wavy band recalls the etymology of the Val d'Intelvi, the valley between the two branches of the Telo, and in the chief are three stars, one for each village.
