Feast of Santa Maria Nascente
📅 Every year, on 8 September
On 8 September Rezzago, a municipality of 317 inhabitants in the province of Como, celebrates its patroness Santa Maria Nascente.
Above the village stand the earth mushrooms: erratic boulders that acted as umbrellas for the ground beneath them, so that while the rain carried everything else away, under each one a column of earth and gravel was left. Three are left, one of them barely begun, and a fourth fell a few years ago; meanwhile others are forming.
The old courtyards of the centre still carry the names of the people who lived in them: the one of Luisot, the one of Rosalia, the one of Zachi the barber, the one of muti, who made the best scissors in Rezzago. Between 1928 and 1947 Rezzago did not exist: it had been put together with Caglio and Sormano into a single comune called Santa Valeria.
