In this municipality, which fits into less than three square kilometres, mass is celebrated in two different rites. Senna has always been part of the archdiocese of Milan and therefore follows the Ambrosian rite; the hamlet of Bassone, on the other hand, depends on the Como parish of Albate and follows the Roman rite. The liturgical border runs through the village, and coincides with no administrative boundary. What is more, the parish of Senna is very recent: it was erected on the fifteenth of July 1986 by archbishop Carlo Maria Martini, uniting two churches that until then depended on Intimiano and on Cucciago.
The new church was built in the early nineteen-nineties; the old sanctuary, instead, was an oratory of the Benedictine nuns of Santa Maria at Cantù, documented from the thirteenth century. On the façade, beneath an Annunciation earlier than the sixteenth century, is a Last Supper painted in an unusual way, with Judas seated opposite Jesus, on the other side of the table. Inside, besides the fifteenth-century wooden altarpiece, naked figures appear on the walls clutched by dark shapes: a scene of damnation. Three thousand one hundred and seventy-one inhabitants in the province of Como.
