The name says what happened: «ed Uniti», and the united ones, are the comuni that were suppressed and joined to this one. In the Cremona plain the formula recurs — Casalbuttano ed Uniti, Pescarolo ed Uniti — and at Casalbuttano the step is documented: in 1867 the two comuni of San Vito and Polengo, independent until then, were suppressed and joined to the chief town, which from that moment took that name. Pozzaglio's united ones are Casalsigone, Castelnuovo Gherardi, Brazzuoli, Villanova Alghisi and Solarolo del Persico, all a few kilometres from one another; and the comune has remained a comune sparso, that is one made of distinct villages that never fused into a single centre.
In Roman times the via Brixiana passed through here — the Latin name of the place was Plaxanus — the consular road that linked the river port of Cremona, on the Po, with Brescia, from where the roads then branched out across the whole of Cisalpine Gaul. The road that crosses the village today, the Gardesana, does more or less the same work. The school tells the same story of aggregations: the institute at Brazzuoli serves not only this comune but those of Corte de' Frati and Olmeneta as well. The municipal arms arrived with a royal decree of 10 December 1942.
