The patron saint of Gessate is Saint Maurus the Abbot, celebrated on 15 January in the parish church of Santi Pietro e Paolo, where his relics are displayed for the faithful's veneration.
The feast has also been deeply felt in neighbouring towns for many years, since the previous century. Towards the end of the 18th century Gessate became a summer retreat for some Milanese patrician families. The town also holds Villa Daccò and the Church of the Addolorata.
