Vanzaghello has a street named after a date: 28 May 1968, the day it became a comune again. It had tried twice to stand on its own, and twice it had been prevented. The first time in 1809, when the Napoleonic government judged its seven hundred and sixty-two inhabitants too few to justify autonomy and annexed the territory to Magnago; the Austrians annulled the measure, but in 1869 Victor Emmanuel II brought it back, and that time it lasted almost a century.
The village had come into being in the Middle Ages around its parish, and in 1657 it had become a fief. Its industrial face was given to it by the Cotonificio Valle Ticino of count Treccani, which took the economy from farming to the factory; when the textile trade fell into crisis in the nineteen-sixties, Vanzaghello turned to craft work done at home for other firms, between knitwear and small engineering. In one of the village's public grounds a steam locomotive is on display.
