Feast of San Terenziano
📅 Every year, on the first Sunday of September
On the first Sunday of September Nicorvo, a municipality of 364 inhabitants in the province of Pavia, celebrates its patron San Terenziano.
The first document that names Nicorvo is an order of 960 from Berengar II, king of Italy: the wolves infesting the district were to be hunted down without mercy. In 1477 the village passed to Pietro Gallarati, who was already lord of Cozzo; and on the great Vatican map of 1581 the name appears misspelled as Niconio.
The Via Francigena crosses the whole village: it goes past the small eighteenth-century sanctuary they call the Madonnina, with a centuries-old magnolia behind it, and past the church of San Terenziano, consecrated in 1620. In the parish house volunteers keep a hostel for pilgrims, by offering. Around the houses there is rice.
