Saint Juliana, patron of the land of the Agogna Morta
📅 Every year, on 16 February
Borgolavezzaro celebrates Saint Juliana on 16 February.
This is the southernmost commune of its province, wedged into the Lomellina: it borders the province of Pavia to the south, the east and the west. The land is all plain, crossed by the Agogna, the Arbogna, the Neralo and the Ri, and the crop that rules it is rice.
The borgo was founded around 1255 as a free borough, in the time of the podestà Peracha Lavezarius. The parish church was designed in 1858 by Alessandro Antonelli and finished in 1862: a single nave and a portico with four granite columns. The bell tower, though, is older than the church it belongs to, being of the seventeenth century.
