The patrons of Aprica are Saints Peter and Paul, celebrated on 29 June, and Maria Santissima Assunta (Mary Most Holy of the Assumption), on 15 August.
Every year, at the end of February, the «Sunà da Mars» (literally «playing of March») is celebrated, one of the oldest and most deeply felt folk traditions tied to the so-called calling of the grass: phalanxes of bell-ringers in local costume, coming from the six contrade of Liscedo, Liscidini, Santa Maria, Mavigna, Dosso and San Pietro, meet and compete by rhythmically shaking their big cowbells, first in Piazza Mario Negri scultore, in front of the town hall, then in Piazza del Palabione.
