In the parish church of San Siro are the frescoes Cipriano Valorsa painted in 1548: they called him the Raphael of the Valtellina, and his cycle on the life of the Virgin has come back to light with recent restoration. The church stands at the top of the debris cone the village is built on, and is lit all year round at night.

For the rest, Bianzone is a story of poverty and departures: from the end of the nineteenth century to the fifties people emigrated to Switzerland and above all to Perth, in Western Australia, and for more than a century smuggling across the border occupied a good share of the young men. When the railway arrived in 1902 it was a disappointment: the village got a halt, and the goods yard went to the neighbour.
