The patron saint of Tufara is Saint John the Hermit of Tufara, considered the first saint of Molise, celebrated from 12 to 14 November. In the enclosed courtyard of the house linked to his memory stands a well whose water is believed to be miraculous: with this water the «panelle» are prepared, devotional food eaten precisely during the feast days. A permanent museum dedicated to him, adjacent to the church of Santi Pietro e Paolo, was inaugurated in 2020 and gathers images, documents and historical finds relating to the saint's life and cult; in an earlier era he replaced Saint Victor as patron.
Tufara's municipal coat of arms depicts, on a gold field, Saint John the Hermit in profile, dressed in a friar's habit, barefoot and bearded in silver, holding a lance upright. The town also preserves the Castello di Tufara, the Murgia Romitello and the Bosco Pianelle.
