Feast of Saint Sebastian
📅 Every year, on 20 January
On 20 January San Sebastiano Curone celebrates its patron Saint Sebastian, who also appears in the town's name; every November it hosts the Fiera Nazionale del Tartufo.
The village sits where the Museglia runs into the Curone, for centuries a stage on the salt road: muleteers came up from Genoa with salt and salted anchovies and went back with grain. Under the Doria, in the sixteenth century, it lived off that traffic: warehouses, inns and taverns, farriers and brokers.
Stone doorways of rustic Genoese work still line the lanes, the oldest from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The parish church of San Sebastiano, of 1670, has a curving front with the clock on top; inside hangs a Crucifixion carved in gilded polychrome wood by the German master Stefano Vil. Felice Giani, the neoclassical painter who worked for Napoleon, was born here.
