On 25 November Monale celebrates its patron Saint Catherine of Alexandria; the town preserves the Castello Scarampi di Monale.
The Scarampi castle at Monale, in the province of Asti, was put up in 1161 on the bric San Giovanni, and the counts Gani restored it in the twentieth century. Above the village stands La Bastita, today a seventeenth-century building: it began in the early fourteenth century as a rough wooden fort, turned into a castle little by little, and housed the leading men of Monale.
The parish church of Santa Caterina d'Egitto has ancient origins: in 1678 it was enlarged and given its bell tower, brick like the front and carrying a clock. Santa Maria del Fonte, once the parish church, now serves the cemetery.
