Saint Antoninus of Apamea, patron of the land of the Spina Verde Reserve
📅 Every year, on 2 September
Occhieppo Inferiore celebrates Saint Antoninus of Apamea on 2 September, in the church dedicated to him.
Occhieppo Inferiore lies at the foot of the Biella Alps, between the Elvo, which skirts it to the west, and the Oremo, its tributary, which runs to the east. It borders Biella and now forms, with other neighbouring comuni, a single built-up area with it.
The town had a station on the Biella-Mongrando line, working from 1891 to 1951; halfway through, in 1922, the railway was turned into a tramway. The town's arms are canting arms.
