Camburzano's name has two explanations, neither certain. One derives it from Campus Burcianus, the field of the Roman centurion Burcius, a camp of tents for the garrison and the slaves who looked for gold in the nearby Bessa; the other from Campo Sano, for the good soil and mild climate. The arms back the first: three Roman tents. In 1165 Uguccione, bishop of Vercelli, gave the land to the Avogadro di Cerrione.
Of the medieval tower, long the village emblem, only ruins remain: it belonged to a castle destroyed in 1400. The parish church of San Martino goes back to the thirteenth century, with the bell tower of 1867 beside it.
