Rossana

Province: Cuneo · Region: Piedmont · Population: 909 · Postal code: 12020

Rossana lies in a side branch at the mouth of the Varaita valley, on the right bank of the stream. In 998 it belonged to the bishop of Turin; of the castle that commanded it only ruins are left.

The parish church of the Assunta was built in Gothic forms: the doorway sits between paired columns, patches of fresco survive on the front, and inside there is a font of 1447. Its centre is the square before the church, where the Confraternity church and the public loggia also stand; at the Busca end is the old chapel of the Madonna della Pietà.
