Fara Novarese

Province: Novara · Region: Piedmont · Population: 2,113 · Postal code: 28073

Fara had two castles, and their names still keep them apart: the Castrum Vetus, known in the village as the Castellone, and the Castrum Novum, that is the Upper Castle. From Roman times the sarcophagus of Lucius Lupercus survives.

The village also has the Fonte della Salute, the scurolo of San Damiano and a museum given over to the nativity scene. The wine made hereabouts is called Fara, like the commune.
