Saint Simplicius, patron whose relics rest in a basilica atop a Roman treasure
📅 Every year, on 15 May
Olbia celebrates Saint Simplicius on 15 May; the martyr, pierced by a lance under Diocletian, was buried in the Roman necropolis where in 1904 a treasure of 871 gold coins was discovered, and on which his Romanesque-Pisan basilica now stands.
