The village was called Forru, from the Latin forum or from the ovens used for terracotta and metals, and it changed its name because of the post. In 1863 the mayor, the jurist and member of parliament Giovanni Battista Tuveri, proposed putting an end to the mix-ups with nearby Villanovaforru. Among the proposals, Collinas was chosen, for the hills that stand around.
In 1855 cholera got into the village: in fifty days a hundred and twenty people died out of nine hundred and sixty. When it stopped, on the day of the Immaculate Conception, the survivors restored the statue of Saint Roch and put in his hand a silver staff engraved with the count of the dead and a single line for themselves: «the survivors, grateful and thankful to Saint Roch».
