Pimentel has hardly ever travelled alone. In the Middle Ages it lay in the judicate of Cagliari, inside the curatoria of Trexenta, and from then on every change of hands concerned the whole block of neighbouring villages: in 1324 it passed to the Aragonese «together with all the centres» of the former curatorie of Trexenta and Gippi, and in 1421 it was given in administration to Giacomo de Besora, once again along with all the other villages of the Trexenta. In 1497 it was united to the county of Villasor, which in 1594 became a marquisate. Even in the twentieth century the story repeated itself in small: from 1936 to 1946 the comune was merged into neighbouring Samatzai, and only after the war did it exist on its own account again.

One passage, however, is all its own. In 1703 Artale de Alagón gave the fief to his daughter Isabella, married to Giuseppe da Silva: the village thus ended up with the Da Silva-Alagón, that is with a family that came in by marriage, and from them it was redeemed in 1839 with the abolition of the feudal system. The name too is double: Pimentel in Italian, Pramantellu in Sardinian, which does not resemble the first very much; the variety spoken is western Campidanese. In the territory, in the Trexenta, remain the domus de janas of S'acqua salida, also called Pranu Efis, and in the village the church of the Blessed Virgin of Carmel. The football team, Polisportiva Pimentel, plays in the third division.
