The patron saint of Joppolo Giancaxio is Saint Francis of Paola, celebrated on 2 April. Curiously, the town fair tied to the municipality's commercial life is not held on this date, but on 19 and 20 July, coinciding with the feast of the Madonna del Soccorso, a sign of how this second Marian observance is just as deeply rooted in the town's religious and social life.
The municipal territory preserves the ducal castle of Joppolo, and borders the Macalube di Aragona nature reserve, famous for its mud volcanoes.
