Menfi

Province: Agrigento · Region: Sicily · Population: 12,711 · Postal code: 92013

In 1910, a full third of Menfi's residents packed their bags and left for the United States, Argentina, Brazil, and Venezuela. This massive wave of emigration deeply altered the demographic landscape of the Sicilian municipality.

Today, the town is home to roughly 12,700 people in the province of Agrigento. Situated just three kilometres inland from Sicily's southern coast, the settlement lies bordered by the Belice and Carboj rivers, about 60 kilometres northwest of Agrigento.
