Saint Calogero and the «straula», the sledge dragged for a kilometre with 200-metre ropes
📅 Every year, from 15 to 25 June, culminating on the 18th
Naro celebrates Saint Calogero on 18 June: the statue of the black saint, set on a huge sledge called the «straula», is dragged by the faithful with ropes about 200 metres long from the sanctuary to the mother church, in a city that Emperor Frederick II proclaimed «Fulgentissima» in 1233.
