Canicattì is the capital of Italia table grapes: the plateau of vineyards around it grows the IGP grapes that leave for Europe's markets, and in late summer the town lives by the harvest. The clock tower and the Sociale theatre mark the centre, among eighteenth-century churches and palaces of grain and wine families.
Rosario Livatino was born here in 1952 — the "boy judge" murdered by the mafia in 1990 and beatified in 2021: his memory, from his house to the places of remembrance, is now part of the town's deepest identity. An inland Sicily, serious and true.
