The patron saint of San Michele di Ganzaria is Saint Michael the Archangel, celebrated on the first Sunday of September in the church consecrated to him, whose original layout dates from the 13th century, restored several times and most recently on the façade in September 2007, to a design by architect Salvatore Lauria.
On Good Friday the procession called in local dialect «Signuri ô Munti» takes place: the inhabitants gather at the church of the Calvary, from where a cortege of about seven hours sets out, with the statue of the Dead Christ followed by that of Our Lady of Sorrows, accompanied by the town band's funeral marches. The second Sunday after Easter sees the procession of San Francesco di Paola, while on 8 December the Immaculate Conception is celebrated and on 12 December Saint Lucy, with the traditional Luminaria and the «Cuccia».
