Known in Sicilian as Santu Conu, the village owes its name to Saint Cono. It stands on a hilly area along the slopes of the Erei Mountains, right at the western edge of the Metropolitan City of Catania.
With a population of 2,790, this agricultural community is widely recognized across the region for its production of prickly pears.
