Count Roger first recorded Gaggi in 1017, documenting the settlement in a Norman diploma. Known officially as Kaggi until 1939, the village operated for centuries under the jurisdiction of Taormina until local buyers secured its independence in 1639.
Today, this municipality of 3,138 residents belongs to the Metropolitan City of Messina, positioned along the provincial route between Giardini and Francavilla di Sicilia.
