Mongiuffi Melia is a municipality born from the union of two distinct villages in the Peloritani mountains, each with its own patron saint and its own feast date: in Mongiuffi, Saint Leonard is celebrated on 6 November, and in Melia, Saint Sebastian on 20 January.
The municipal territory holds two places of great popular devotion: the diocesan sanctuary of Santa Maria della Catena and the sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Aiuto. The town also has the church of San Nicolò di Bari, while in the surrounding countryside the bridge of the ancient Roman aqueduct that once linked Mongiuffi to Melia still stands.
