For centuries the people of Patti have recognised their protectress in Saint Febronia, whom they call «patroness and fellow citizen». On 5 July the town honours her with the solemn celebrations organised by the bishop's curia, the cathedral parish and the municipality; the outdoor feast, the one that brings people into the streets, falls instead on the last Sunday of July.
Her relics are kept in a silver urn in the 11th-century basilica cathedral of San Bartolomeo, given on several occasions by the people of Minori. In the same cathedral, in the Baroque chapel of Saint Febronia in polychrome marble, stands the Renaissance sarcophagus of Queen Adelasia del Vasto, wife of the great count Roger I and mother of Roger II: after her disastrous marriage to Baldwin I of Jerusalem she retired to Patti, where she died in 1118.
