The patron saints of San Marco d'Alunzio are Saint Mark and Saint Nicholas, celebrated on 31 July with the feast of the Patron Saints. The town's religious calendar is packed all year round: the third Sunday of January sees the feast of Saint Anthony Abbot with the blessing of animals, the last Friday of March the feast of the Crocifisso di Aracoeli with the procession of the hooded Babbaluti, and 2 June a medieval day.
Two days after the patronal feast, on 2 August, Saint Basil is celebrated with a distinctive back-and-forth procession accompanied by basil torches, while on 15 August the Palio dell'Assunta is held, with a medieval costume parade. The Christmas period is enlivened by the traditional novena. The town preserves numerous historic churches, including those of San Nicolò, Santa Maria Aracoeli, Sant'Antonio Abate and the Most Holy Saviour, as well as the Castello di San Marco d'Alunzio.
