The patron saint of Corleone is Saint Leoluca, protector of the town, celebrated on the first of March with a procession and the lighting of bonfires. Born in Corleone around 815, the saint was a Basilian monk and abbot, a healer and one of the founders of Italo-Greek monasticism in southern Italy: he died in Vibo Valentia in 915, after about eighty years of monastic life, and is also the patron of that town. In May the saint's race is held, recalling the legend according to which Saint Leoluca, together with Saint Anthony, halted the Bourbon army.
Corleone's main feast, however, has been since 1594 the observance of Corpus Domini, called «a fera ru Sacramentu»: every year a great fair is set up, its central moment being the procession of the Sacrament joined by all the town's confraternities. Until 1954 a traditional procession also took place, carrying the statues of all the saints from the town's churches.
