Feast of Saint Peter

📍 Modica · Ragusa · Sicily

On 29 June the 1893 oak statue group of Saint Peter healing the paralytic is carried along Corso Umberto I; the evening return is lit by torches, with the traditional fair alongside.

Lower Modica celebrates its co-patron every 29 June. The procession along Corso Umberto I carries an oak statue group sculpted in 1893 by the Palermo artist Benedetto Civiletti, showing Saint Peter healing the paralytic at the Temple gate.

The evening return crosses the old town lit by torches, with the city band playing. A traditional fair, the Fiera di San Pietro, accompanies the feast days. The 2025 edition went ahead as always on 29 June.
