For a few days Corso Umberto I turns into one long chocolate counter: tasting stands, workshops, exhibitions and talks built around Modica PGI chocolate, Europe's first chocolate with protected-origin status, still worked cold following the Aztec-derived technique that reached the town under Spanish rule. Alongside the classic bars there are 'mpanatigghi and the rest of the local pastry repertoire.
The last full edition took place in December 2024. The town council and the chocolate consortium then moved the event away from its usual early-December slot, repeatedly hit by bad weather, and its return is announced for 2026.
