Settimana Quasimodiana

📍 Modica · Ragusa · Sicily

In the week around 20 August — the birthday of Nobel laureate Salvatore Quasimodo — his birthplace museum and the literary park fill Modica with readings, talks and evening walks.

Since 1996 Modica has been throwing a birthday party for its Nobel laureate: Salvatore Quasimodo, born on via Posterla on 20 August 1901. In the week around the anniversary his birthplace, now a museum, and the literary park named after him organize public readings, talks and performances across town.

In 2025 the «Buon compleanno Quasimodo» program reached its ninth edition, with events on 20 and 28 August and a night-time Quasimodo walk on the eve of the anniversary, tracing the places tied to the poet's life and verse.
