The patron saint of Buseto Palizzolo is Our Lady of Mount Carmel, celebrated on 16 July.
The municipality, set on the hills east of Trapani dominated by Monte Luziano, was established on 1 August 1950, splitting off from Erice together, in those same years, with Valderice, Custonaci and San Vito Lo Capo. The double name recalls the two families that governed the fief over the centuries: the Parma, who held a monopoly over it towards the end of the 17th century, and the Palizzolo, related to them through the marriage of Cataldo Parma to a Palizzolo, traditionally engaged in managing the leases of the fiefs for grazing and livestock breeding. A few kilometres from the centre stretches the Bosco Scorace, one of the largest wooded areas in western Sicily.
