Panchià

Province: Trento · Region: Trentino-South Tyrol · Population: 771 · Postal code: 38030

Panchià was not a village of its own: its «villa» lay within the Regola of Tesero together with that of Ziano, and the colours of that Regola have stayed in the seven bands of the banner. On the Avisio the Ponte Vecio still stands, roofed with a pitched wooden top as they used to build them.

From 1917 to 1963 the val di Fiemme railway climbed from Ora to Predazzo and stopped here too: of Panchià's station nothing is left. The village counts a little over eight hundred people and keeps a library of ten thousand volumes, run by the cultural circle, a small theatre for the amateur players and a choir.
