The print sellers set out from here. First they were shepherds, then they sold flints; when a printer from Bassano, Remondini, bought a press, he thought of them to sell his sheets of saints cheaply. The Tesino men reached all of Europe, opened some sixty shops, and a few set up as printers themselves: the Buffa in Amsterdam, the Daziaro in Moscow and Paris, the Avanzo in Brussels, the Pellizzaro in France.
The villa the Daziaro had built for themselves, in red brick, stands somewhere between a Venetian villa and a dacha. In 1575 the captain of Primiero was accused by the people of Pieve of carrying the plague and had to sleep in the bell tower of San Sebastiano. Here, on 3 April 1881, Alcide De Gasperi was born: the house is a museum, and the village had the first pro loco in Italy.
