San Lorenzo in Banale is not one village but seven: Pergnano, Senaso, Glolo, Berghi, Dolaso, Prusa and Prato, the Sette Ville, whose memory is still on the comune's arms in the form of bezants. Here, around 1875, somebody invented the ciuìga: a sausage of pork mixed with cooked turnips, that is a little meat stretched out with what the fields gave, which is today a Slow Food presidium. The place was Roman, as the epigraphs and land records found here show; in the twelfth century the bishop's stronghold of Castel Mani was built, and the control of the bishop of Trento lasted until 1800; after the Congress of Vienna, in 1815, the Banale passed to Tyrolean administration. In 1868 fire took two of the seven villages: Pergnano on 10 July and Senaso on 9 November.

On the first of January 2015 San Lorenzo in Banale and Dorsino became a single comune, San Lorenzo Dorsino, with its seat at San Lorenzo; and the coat of arms approved in March of that year is a treaty in pictures. From San Lorenzo's emblem it takes the semi-party truncated composition, the arches, the bezants of the Sette Ville and the little shield in the heart; from Dorsino's, the bear passant and three fir trees, one for each of its three hamlets. The reading given of the whole is fidelity to the prince-bishopric, that is to the authority which governed this side of the mountains until 1800. The churches too are scattered, one to a village: Santa Maria Assunta at Tavodo, San Lorenzo at San Lorenzo in Banale, the sanctuary of the Madonna di Caravaggio at Deggia, Santi Sebastiano e Rocco at Pergnano, San Giorgio at Dorsino.
