Valdaone is a new comune: it was born on the first of January 2015 from the union of Bersone, Daone and Praso, and it is the westernmost in Trentino. The coat of arms it gave itself is an assembly of the three old ones: the chamois came from Daone, the Tringoi bridge from Bersone, and the arnica flower from Praso, repeated three times, one for each community.
The valley is granite, carved by glaciers, and in the nineteen-fifties two dams were built there: the one at malga Boazzo and, higher up, the one at malga Bissina, which holds back sixty million cubic metres of water. In winter the valley's waterfalls freeze and become walls of ice: climbers come from outside for them.
