Our Lady of Solca and the Chestnut Museum
📅 Every year, on 21 August
Pescaglia celebrates Our Lady of Solca on 21 August.
The name can mean two things, the pastures or the fishing, and the coat of arms has chosen: there is a trout on it. The older one, kept in the archive, said more: a vase with a chestnut tree above it, the trout on the band, and the names of the hamlets written along the branches. The chestnut later vanished and the fish stayed; but at Colognora there is a museum of the chestnut.
At Vetriano, in 1890, a hay barn given by the engineer Virgilio Biagini was turned into a theatre: seventy-one square metres in all and eighty-five seats between stalls and boxes. In 1997 Guinness recorded it as the smallest historic public theatre in the world, and in 2003 its restoration was given a prize alongside that of the Fenice in Venice.
