The patron saint of Porano is Saint Blaise, celebrated on 3 February, with the church dedicated to him. On the town's coat of arms, recognised by decree of the Head of Government on 25 February 1929, the saint's image is depicted on a silver field, with a crosier in his right hand and the Gospel in his left; the banner, granted by presidential decree on 22 March 1976, is a party-per-pale yellow and blue cloth.
The town, surrounded by medieval walls, has a parish church with frescoes of great artistic value, including a 15th-century Annunciation and a marble holy water font from the early 17th century. In the historic centre, some fine residential buildings were built at the start of the modern age; the municipal territory also preserves important Etruscan traces in the necropolis of the Golini and Hescana tombs.
