The coat of arms of Vigodarzere is divided into four, and each of the four parts tells something. There is the tower of the castle of the da Vigodarzere, the feudal lords from whom the village takes its name, with Guelph merlons: because the local noble families, the da Vigodarzere and the da Scintilla, stood against the Ghibelline Ezzelino III da Romano. There is the seal of the charterhouse that existed here from 1554 to 1770, three red roses on a silver field. And there is the coat of arms of the da Scintilla: a red star from which sparks radiate outwards, which is a pun on their surname. Below the fortification runs the Brenta.

The name means village on the embankment — or fortified village, from the Latin agger — and it says exactly why this place was useful to someone: the Romans put a military post here to guard Padua, naturally defended by the river. In the hamlet of Tavo, instead, stands villa Mussato, the country residence of the family of the Venetian patrician Mussato: there in 1261 was born Albertino Mussato, humanist and politician, who died in 1329.
