The feast of San Donato, patron of Castel del Monte, is held on 6 and 7 August; the municipality holds the Chiesa Matrice di Castel del Monte.
The «notte delle streghe» (night of the witches), on 17 and 18 August, born from reading the texts of the shepherd-poet Francesco Giuliani, is Castel del Monte's main event: from sunset the ritual tour of the village in search of evil spirits takes place. On 8 September, at dusk, the procession of the Madonna dei Pastori, the last festival of the summer, winds along the little streets and under the characteristic «sporti» of the old town.
