The beaches of Roseto degli Abruzzi run between two river mouths, the Tordino and the Vomano. Until 1927, visitors seeking the town hall had to head inland to Montepagano. Back then, modern Roseto was merely a coastal dependency known as Rosburgo, before an administrative shift flipped their roles and moved the municipal seat down to the sea.
Now the second-largest municipality in Teramo province, it houses roughly 25,000 residents and expands steadily through coastal districts like Campo a Mare. While the sandy shoreline dominates the local summer economy, driving up to Montepagano provides a highly recommended historical detour to see the original hilltop village that birthed this modern resort.
