Giulianova

Province: Teramo · Region: Abruzzo · Population: 23,199 · Postal code: 64021

Two previous settlements—the Roman Castrum Novum Picenii and the medieval Castel San Flaviano—were completely wiped out before Giulianova took its current form. In the second half of the 15th century, the Duke of Atri, Giulio Antonio I Acquaviva d'Aragona, established a new coastal center from scratch, naming the town after himself.

Originally designed to embody the strict proportions of a Renaissance ideal city, this Teramo province destination now counts 23,199 residents. Officially holding city status, it remains a prominent and historically grounded fixture along the Adriatic shoreline of Abruzzo.
