The patron of Tricarico is Saint Potitus, martyred under Antoninus Pius in southern Italy, whose memorial falls on 14 January; in the town he is celebrated twice, on 14 January and on 17 July.
Tricarico's calendar also has its carnival, with the parade of masks repeated on the last Sunday before it closes, and from the Ràbata quarter comes the Canzone della Rábata, a satirical song of local popular culture.
