🎉 Patron saint festival

Feast of Saint Alexander

📍 Melfi · Potenza · Basilicata

On 9 February Melfi celebrates Saint Alexander of Bergamo, patron of a Lucanian town that carries the name of a northern saint.

The patron of Melfi is Saint Alexander of Bergamo and his day falls on 9 February: a Lombard saint at the head of a town of the Vulture, as often happened in the Norman south.

Melfi's religious calendar holds two other deeply felt dates: the Good Friday procession, organised by the cathedral parish, with the images of the Sorrowful Virgin and the Dead Christ and the girls dressed in mourning; and the procession of Saint Anne, on 26 July.
