The patron of Rapolla is Saint Blaise, celebrated on 3 February. The church named after him was begun between the 12th and 13th centuries, probably on a laura or hermitage: modest architecture, almost unique of its kind, mixing Latin and Byzantine styles, with a small tower rising from the roof and a façade that coincides with the left-hand side.
Inside, the frescoes of the 13th and 14th centuries show Saint Blaise, Saint Nicholas and a Saint Catherine of Alexandria that reappeared during restoration work, recognisable by her wheel. But the town's own treasure is the wooden statue of Saint Blaise, a masterpiece of local art from the 12th century, carved from a rowan trunk: on 24 February 2010 the saint's relics were set into it.
